Here’s the Story behind the Story…
Each year, I ask the kids, “What’s the point of taking the Tree down? Christmas will be here again before you know it!”
Well, we kept the Tree up until April this year! On Christmas Day (2017), I began arranging “traditional” Christmas Carols, the first arrangement being “Angels We Have Heard on High.” Eventually, 12 Carols would be arranged during the time when the Tree was still up, and right up until today. With all the recordings and the release of the CD, it has indeed been Christmas!
To make the arrangements come alive in time for this Christmas, I approached consummate artists from our Grammy Community. For instance, Armand Hutton’s tongue-in-cheek singing and vocal contribution/arrangement on “The 12 Days & 15 Keys of Christmas!” is both hysterical and virtuosic!
Adelmo Guidarelli spans a wide range of intense operatic to sublime story-telling as only he can in “What Can I Give Him?,” “God Rest ye NOT, Merry Gentlemen,” and “Emmanuel.” Adelmo is another virtuoso!
Cindy Hughlett… well, I cannot listen to her poignant take on “Away in a Manger” without tearing up. She “tells” us the Story as only she could. It is humbling to listen to her Musical Giving.
Jann Klose delivers, “What Child Is This?” and “O Holy Night!” in ways that challenge some of the best singers you’ve ever heard do these works! I’ve had a favorite since I was a boy, but Jann goes well beyond!
As for “The Littlest Drummer Boy & the Angel Girl,” well! We had to borrow Michael Ashby and Erin Hannon from Broadway and Musical Theater venues for a very different arrangement! While most of it is tongue-in-cheek, their performances result in a new Story, and a “new classic!”
In addition to rendering a haunting version of the “Ave Maria,” AEONE sings “Angels We Have Heard on High.” The effect of her voice, cascading over itself becomes indeed, “angelic” and ethereal.

"Christmas Passion is a phenomenal work!!! The contrasting styles really help to tell the story and create a feeling of moving from one 'scene' to another, not just from one 'song' to another. You've brought such freshness to these traditional works and really breathed new life into them. They've been arranged with such deep sensitivity to the subject matter.
I especially loved your arrangements of Emmanuel, Ave Maria, and Angels We Have Heard On High - which is stunning! It brought tears to my eyes. The 12 Days and 15 Keys of Christmas was brilliant! Rest Not Ye Merry Gentlemen is truly epic! I can see Andre Rieu loving this and performing it as part of his Christmas concerts.
I would love to hear all of these live. This whole album should be performed in a worldwide tour. Many hearts would be moved toward God. I wish I knew the right hands to place this into.
Congratulations to you and to all the wonderful vocalists who brought this amazing project to life. I will definitely tell people about Christmas Passion and will enjoy listening to it year after year. What a beautiful gift you have brought before our King :)
